Damn. Damn. Damn. Damn. Damn.

I shorted out an outlet, so there's no electricity in the bedroom (where I'm painting tomorrow).

Fun with electricity:

1. Don't do anything unless the breaker is off!
2. If you're painting, just remove the outlet cover. Leave the innards alone!

Yup, that was stupid. . . but I'm pretty sure I won't do it again.

6 retorts. What say you?

If no one is hurt, consider it an object lesson. ;)

good luck tomorrow!

I think most electricians would want to warn you that just because the breaker is turned off for the outlet/switch/box you're going to open does NOT mean there is no chance of a hot wire being tied in there. For God's sake .... be careful!

MtnMama - a lesson indeed. Wasn't hurt, but that's because I was lucky, not because I was smart.

Shadox - Damn indeed!

Gord - I solemnly swear not to monkey with electricity ever again.

Anon - Not so much scary as the trigger for an F-bomb festival. I've done some pretty damn stupid things in my time, but this one definitely ranks up there.

OMG. Thank God you are ok.

Paint doesn't really come out of your hair unless you 'peel' off the latex. I'd go in for a cut. That's why there are 'painter's caps'! That ugly remnant of the '80's. Surely you recall their sartorial misadventure?
